A Slice of Heaven with Taylor Foster

Model, entrepreneur, baker, yogi and mom; is there anything Taylor Foster can’t do?! We sit down with the superwoman to find out. Spoiler alert: Nope.

From golden, sun-drenched Miami to verdant upstate New York, Taylor Foster is something akin to a forest nymph, as she takes to baking, practicing yoga, and full-time mom-ing her 8-year-old son. When she’s not busy globetrotting, she settles into an off-the-grid abode tucked away in the NY Catskills–one with no running water or electricity (hello, compostable toilet!). But don’t be fooled: Taylor’s calm and peaceful spirit is not without bold, striking beauty.

When she was just 13-years-old, her dainty freckles and scarlet mane caught the attention of a Ford Models scout–a moment that would inevitably change her life forever. Since then, Taylor’s extensive modeling portfolio includes household names such as Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen and Chanel. Her editorial campaigns and boho splendor can be found on the pages of Vogue, Elle, W, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. Taylor’s advertising campaigns have adorned the glossy window displays of Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Suffice it to say, you can definitely tack on “SUPERMODEL” to her growing list of titles.

And the list doesn’t stop there. The supermodel superwoman runs her own all-natural skincare line, Heaven on Main Street– a name she borrowed from the vegan and gluten-free bakery she had opened in the Catskills. The line carries products intended to heal the mind, body and spirit. When BWB heard about all this, we knew we had to sit down with Taylor to see how she does it all.

YOUR DAY
Morning routine?

Get up & drink water! Then I move straight to coffee and meditate for as many minutes as I can before getting my son up. Usually it works out to be about 10! I make him breakfast, pack his lunch and drive him to school.

One activity you do every day without fail?

Stretch! I love to move my body. Whether it’s yoga, dance or just jumping around!

Evening relaxation routine?

If I can take a bath and do a face mask, that’s the ultimate luxury for me. Otherwise, I like to make herbal tea and light some candles!

YOUR BEAUTY HABITS
Must-have skincare products?

A face mist! I usually mix my own with water and essential oils. I use all my own products. I’m constantly testing new things and using my all-time favorites. Currently, those are the Calm & Clear Face Oil, Hyaluronic Acid Face Lotion, Luminescent Tinted Moisturizer and Eye Balm. My skin gets super dry in the winter so I really layer it on. I also use Weleda’s skin food cream for even more moisture when I need it.

A beauty trick you learned from a makeup artist?

I’ve learned so many! A touch of highlighter on the brow bone and in the corner of the eyes is a favorite. Everyone knows that by now, but when artists first started doing that on me, I was so impressed.

Signature perfume?

Serge Lutens Borneo 1834.

YOUR CAREER
Who has been your greatest mentor?

There have been so many inspiring people along the way. The greatest thing for me has always been to see people passionately doing what they want to do, whatever it is. I love watching designers create clothing; the artistic process is so beautiful to me.

Taking responsibility for who you are and contributing on that level to make the world a better place is also inspiring to me. Anyone that does that is a mentor to me!

The best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Keep going. Stay passionate and driven. There will always be setbacks but just keep moving forward.

The biggest risk you took that has paid off?

Buying a building in the Catskills and opening my bakery. I’ve since sold the building but that move allowed me to start my business and changed the course of my life.

YOUR THINKING
What would you say to other women about how to be in the world right now?

Stay passionate, follow your heart, and never stay in a situation that isn’t feeding your soul. Help others. When you’re down and depressed, sometimes the act of simply helping another woman will also help change things around for yourself. We are all connected and there is plenty to go around. We need more uplifting things and we should lift each other up. Never compromise your worth. You are worth it and your voice matters.

What has been the most memorable moment for you as a women?

Cliché to say, but birthing my son. It’s a life-changing experience!
