Should We Be Taking our Beauty Cues from Millennials? YES!
This generation has spoken, and what they want and expect from the beauty industry speaks volumes to who they are as people.
Millennials are the largest generation in America’s history, making up a quarter of the U.S.A.’s population. They have a unique voice and their opinions reflect the world around them, so it is not surprising to see that the world and market-makers are listening. Beauty and skincare brands are also listening and responding.
This generation has spoken, and what they want and expect from the beauty industry speaks volumes to who they are as people. They are seeking out brands that are cruelty-free, natural, organic, and sustainable. They are not as willing to spend large amounts of money on skin care, instead expecting quality and results from more wallet-friendly brands found in pharmacies, Target, and popular online beauty sites. This group has gotten away from the multi-step regime, choosing to pare down their skin care routine by using products that are multi-functional. Anything that is effective, fun, different, and deemed Instagramable is a plus, explaining the popularity of K-Beauty and vibrant make-up application tutorials.
Beauty & Well-Being took some time to listen and learn from these wise millennials. We have 5 of their favorite brands that can teach all of us a thing or two about the millennial way of skin care, beauty, and health.
This Finnish skincare brand speaks the language of millennials. Their products are made solely from natural resources in Finland through sustainable practices. They provide modern, luxurious skincare that is direct, safe, and affordable– attributes that millennials are increasingly seeking out in skincare. We love their Valo Nordic – C line, which showcases Arctic Cloudberry and Arctic Spring Water from Finland and the ever important and popular ingredient, Vitamin C. It’s an antioxidant, skin brightener, and rejuvenator all in one. Our favorites are:
Pure Glow Cleansing Balm which melts into your skin and gently but effectively removes eye make-up, cleanses skin without stripping its protective barrier, and makes the skin softer & brighter.
Glow Refresh Hydrating Mist is great for an extra boost of hydration after cleansing, over make-up, or just about anytime your skin is feeling thirsty or in need of a pick-me-up.
Arctic Berry Cocktail is a cure all for stressed and dry skin. It’s key ingredients are cloudberry seed oil & extract, cranberry seed oil, triglycerides, squalane, vitamin C and B3 & B5. It’s great under day or night creams and even on its own, leaving your skin smooth, bright and dewy.
This cult favorite hair care brand has been beautifying millennial’s hair with its sulfate, gluten, & paraben-free, vegan and non-toxic products way before these terms became mainstream. Their ingredients come from the Amazon Rainforest. They are organic and purely plant-derived, including the rahua oil, which the brand is based on. They also employ 500 families in the rainforest and support sustainable practices, which is an important selling point to many generations.
BWB is loving their Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner. It uses Amazonian oils to work miracles on dry, frizzy hair and smells like a tropical vacation. Follow up with their Leave – In Treatment. It gives your hair a beautiful natural bounce if you air-dry and protects your hair from the damaging heat of styling equipment. One last favorite is the Voluminous Dry Shampoo, which brings tired hair back to life, leaving it fresh and full.
