Sydne Summer

A Los Angeles based style expert, stylist, TV Host, and Fashion Blogger, Sydne Summer is passionate about creating looks that are not only aspirational, but also very achievable for the busy, fabulous female.

I never find it difficult to pair up and match my gym outfits. When it comes to putting on conventional clothes, however, I often find I am at a loss for where to start. Fortunately, I have my friend Sydne Summer to turn to for guidance and inspiration. A Los Angeles based style expert, stylist, TV Host, and Fashion Blogger, Sydne Summer is passionate about creating looks that are not only aspirational, but also very achievable for the busy, fabulous female.

I recently had the chance to sit down with her and chat with about all things fashion. Here’s what she said:

BWB: Who would you say is your number one fashion inspiration?

When it comes to fashion, I’m inspired by everything: the red carpet, magazines, my fellow bloggers, places I’ve traveled. One person who inspired me from a very early age was my mom. She always had a timeless style and taught me from very early on that every trend doesn’t work for everyone. You have to pick and choose the ones you feel the best in.

I also love monochromatic looks, and have been wearing a lot of head-to-toe gray and winter white. It’s such a strong, chic statement that’s easy to achieve.

BWB: What are some of your current fashion obsessions?

I’m obsessed with everything and anything fringe. It just adds so much movement to your look. I also love monochromatic looks, and have been wearing a lot of head-to-toe gray and winter white. It’s such a strong, chic statement that’s easy to achieve.

BWB: Many people travel to warmer climates during the holidays – any tips for figure flattering water-wear?

Wrap styles looks good on every body type. Try a classic wrap dress or a wrap romper (I’m obsessed with rompers in general!). A jersey is great for packing since it doesn’t get wrinkly. Look for pieces that have a bit of stretch to them to better flatter your figure.

I feel so fortunate that I’m able to share my love for style with people, using fashion and beauty to help them feel more confident about themselves.

BWB: What inspired you to become a blogger ?

I started blogging while I was a fashion editor for Style Network. I loved getting dressed up for work every day so a colleague recommended I start documenting it. It started as a hobby then turned into a full time career. I feel so fortunate that I’m able to share my love for style with people, using fashion and beauty to help them feel more confident about themselves.

BWB: You travel all the time for work! Is staying properly hydrated and camera-ready a challenge? How have you manage this?

I always make sure to drink a ton of water. I also try to use facemasks as much as possible. I rotate between a few favorites: Kate Somerville Eradikate for exfoliation, Sonia Dakar NutraSphere Nano Mask for moisture and Talika Eye Therapy for my dark circles. I also love body oils to keep my skin moisturized. Recently I’ve been using Mary Kay Cityscape Silkening Dry Oil Mist.

I’ve been using bareMinerals tinted moisturizer for so many years now as my go-to every day base.

BWB: Your skin is flawless and you have to be camera-ready ALL the time – can you tell us about your beauty and wellness routine ?

I’m a firm believer in balance. I’ve tried strict diets in the past and they’ve always resulted in major binge sessions. So I try to listen to what my body craves and if I eat unhealthy one day (which if you follow me on Instagram you know I often do!), I make sure to add extra veggies to my diet the next. As for beauty, I’ve been using Kate Somerville products for the past few months and love how they feel on my skin. Since I have to wear so much makeup for shoots and events, I try to keep my face lighter during the day. I’ve been using bareMinerals tinted moisturizer for so many years now as my go-to every day base. I just add some blush, bronzer and mascara and I’m good to go!

BWB: Living in L.A. you are so lucky to be close to the water – how would you say the proximity to this natural beauty influences your style? Your healthy lifestyle?

There is definitely a more laid back feel when you’re by the water. I find that when I’m visiting my friends in Venice (CA) more, I lean towards more boho style clothing, which luckily is a huge trend for fall! As for health, whenever I’m back in LA, I instantly feel healthier. I also love that my building has a pool. I’m not big on the gym so swimming laps is great exercise and helps so much with stress.

BWB: Every season you round up all the trends in an A-Z Trend Guide. Can you tell us a bit about that?

Yes! Every fashion week I head to NY and see what designers are showing on the runway. Then I come back and break it down into an easy to follow guide that shows the 26 best trends from A to Z. You can see how they’re worn on the runway and then watch videos on how to wear them in real life. You can watch them first by subscribing to my YouTube channel and see more looks on my blog, SydneStyle.com.
